Thanks to…

I feel like I’m not in a position to play favorites :) There are many of you who write often and write very well, and I read everything. So I’m learning a lot from everyone.

However, I am always appreciative when anyone posts for the first time. This isn’t a light discussion and for anyone who thinks he/she has something important to add to the conversation… you’re right. You do. Thank you! And I hope you keep posting. For those who have just been reading, feel free to at least share that with us! Make a posting!

Next churching will be on Sunday. Should be an interesting time… I look forward to it.

As a secular humanist I feel very comfortable where I am now. Religion asked me to believe in myths and fairy tales and magical kingdoms with streets of pure gold and where goodness and right always prevailed . What confused me was the absence of reasonable rational thought. A far cry from what I had to face from day to day. They avoided any semblance of that and replaced it with the worship of the unknown. In some churches they flailed their arms and spoke in tongues like the natives on skull island seeking the appearance of king kong . The worship of a blood-god just never appealed to me and the bible is completely contradictory

I’m glad you posted, Fran, and I hope you’ll stick around and participate in the conversation (I notice you’ve already added some other comments). I hope you’ll discover that many folks here have learned to interact with those who have areas of disagreement with them, yet do so without using characterizations that make the other side feel demeaned or ignorant. As that happens, real community and learning begins to take place - no matter what our entering perspectives and positions have been.

This is very interesting. I am a Unitarian Universalist. Our belief is that we all have our own personal truth. As a church we are there to support each other in the search of that truth. This sometime gets a little confusing: we try not to judge each other’s beliefs. But if a member’s search yielded a belief that there was only one truth, how would we react? My parents are Unitarian Universalists, so I was raised believing that there is not one correct spiritual path. My christian friends think this means that I am undecided. Actually, I am very decided. I just don’t think it should matter to anyone but me what I have decided. Anyway, just thought that you might like to know that there is a church that prides itself on letting people decide for themselves the answer to life’s big questions.

Personally, I don’t really care if a person picks a fire hydrant to be a personal guide so Jennifer I’m with you on that one. Where I have a problem is when this guy starts to talk to this fire hydrant and he starts to interpret the fire hydrants meaning to the questions on a particular day and it ends up having an effect on me or my family based on what this characters feeling . He then interfere’s with my state.

of being , sorry Look to me Christ is a ghost just like spirits and angels and all other things that have a heavenly influence and yeah yeah I know you people say you talk to them and they touch your hearts and ghostly souls but that still doesnt make them any more than what they are , (GHOSTS ) invisible, untouchable , casper like ghosts . Don’t get mad at me , I call em like I see em

What even bothers me more about that fire hydrant thing is if an entire country and it’s president acts like if you don’t talk to the fire hydrant you have no morals. I’m with you Fran.
