I have read many of your entries and as a Christian just going to church, any church, many churches, i feel the one thing, the most important thing missing is the foundation of beleif. I have atteneded church most of my life and until recently(past 10 years or so) i wasn’t so fired up about it, but still believed. The thing is, i didn’t have the foundation of belief, now i know why i believe! During a church service sermon, you can only get small glimpses and sometimes not good glimples of belief. That understanding comes in study and fellowship w/ believers. The church for the most part was set up for believers (not saying that one can not be saved at church) but most understanding comes from the word of god, the bible. Was there one church you felt most drawn too? If so, meet w/ the paster, see if he could set up a study for you w/ himself or w/ someone from the church. Here you could more easily have your questions answered. Such as “song time” of the service and why it is there. Most believe it is to entertain us, but is is for him my savior-to praise him, worship him. If you would like to talk further, do reply to this comment. Ask me questions, i will find the answers for you. I can direct you where to find them yourself. What ever you want to ask is okay. You discovered many churches are against abortion…but do you understand the why’s of that stand or just the position against it. There are reasons! You just don’t always find out those reason, without studing and knowing god’s stand on it. Such things are not always stated boldly at churches or they may “assume” everyone knows. Sadly, lots of believers out there do not know why they believe, but they say they do. I just ask you if you are really seeking to find out what is missing to dig deeper. Jesus as your chosen savior is the answer, but if you do not know the whys it will only be exterior, a mystery and mis-understanding, but jesus is in the heart. I look forward to hearing back from you.
That front page photo on the Chicago Sun is pretty cool. Hope your next A1 is the New York Times.
I wish you had an e-alert system people could sign up for. That way you could let us know when you get booked last-minute for the talk shows like like O’Reilly & Tucker Carlson.
Think Jon Stewart will call ya to come on The Daily Show? That would merit an e-alert.
Keep doing what you’re doing. This might have started as a light-hearted stunt. But what you’re doing is genuine.
If everybody gets behind you, this will last a whole lot longer than 15 minutes.
Fran,
If it’s any consolation 4 out of the last 5 blogs I’ve posted at that weren’t atheist/liberal banned me. No vulgarity on my part just atheist/non-conservative views was enough.
I was reading some of the entries on another page of this website…The one about the church praying for lower real estate costs or more money to afford more real estate kinda caught my attention…I can see where someone who doesn’t beleive in God or Jesus would be bewilderd by that sort of action…truth is, prayers such as that happen all the time…and the other part of that truth is, it works…not always EXACTLY as the praying person, or persons, is asking every time. Prayers ARE answered, but you have to be WITH God to be able to understand the prayer answer you were given when you get the answer…Good luck to you in your search for answes as to why we Christians do what we do…God doesn’t hate sinners…He hates the sins.
T. Brady,
I respectfully disagree that prayer has an effect on the outcome of an event. Atheists in Texas only say we could use more rain every week unless it’s raining. It’s pretty darn hot down here. :)
