2 03/17/06 5:36 AM | Comment Link |Just to mention: an atheist (I think it was TXatheist) already commented on this or Hemant’s blog a few days ago that atheists like to joke: “What made me an atheist was reading the Bible!”
Reading the Bible after making a big effort to get rid of the ‘Christian filter’ with which I had been taught to read it definitely did add to my doubts rather than build up my faith.
So, I’m far from convinced that an atheist reading the Bible would be drawn towards Christianity rather than repelled. I expect the atheist ‘joke’ is not entirely a joke, really. I expect there’s a lot of truth in it.
