1Neat! Thanks for letting us know.
If I can’t get it on the stations nearest me (they aren’t especially close to where I live) I’ll download the podcast and listen to it that way.

2Sweet! Next stop, Jon Stewart’s Daily Show. That would be a mighty Grand Slam! NPR is pretty darn cool too. I am among the distinguished NPR nerds on our campus ;) and getting on their airwaves makes it as A+ in my book.
Way to go guys!

3I hadn’t heard any of the prior interviews so can’t compare. It was neat to hear Hemant and Jim talking and bantering, they sound comfortable together. I realized that here we don’t see the 2 of them communicating directly with each other, but instead each seems to communicate with us.
I wished the journalist hadn’t focused so much on the Vineyard Church visit and discussion, though of course that’s where he watched Jim and Hemant interacting. He made it sound like, well that’s the last church visit so it’s all over, that’s that, won’t be any carryover for either of them or anyone else. Would be interested to hear from Jim and Hemant what if anything they think this experience overall has changed for them…

42:35 into the conversation —Christians should just learn to accept those that say no to accept Christ into their lives “That is functionally what many atheists are saying to the offer” per Jim in what . I am in utter gratitude. Jim, there is a book idea. The only point I wish that would have been added on top of the statement that atheists know the bible better than most xians is because many atheists were devoted christians at one time. And Jim, most humbly thank you for not allowing the people who think they can save us to barrage us with stuff.

5Which reminds me…Jim, can you tell us where things stand with the book offer you were posting about a few weeks ago?

6I listened to the podcast (the segment starts 14 minutes into the first hour) - it was interesting to hear.
There were things said on there I hadn’t heard before - like Hemant saying Christians have sent him books (to try to convert him presumably); he’s been reading them and has found they misrepresent atheists as being very immoral people. Speaking for myself, if a book is wrong about what I know best - me - I’m not likely to trust the rest of what it says. I can’t think that Hemant is likely to trust the rest of the content in a book which is wrong about atheists.
And I hadn’t heard that Jim has got lots of e-mails from Christians saying, in effect “If you won’t try to save Hemant, let me have a go”.
What Hemant said about everyone swaying the same way during singing - I don’t think that means they’ve inappropriately surrendered their individuality any more than when everyone in a group claps in time to music (sacred or secular).
Eliza, I really enjoyed the infidel guy’s show with Jim and Hemant. It’s quite long so there’s time to cover a lot of ground and there’s good three-way rapport between the infidel guy, Jim and Hemant. I think Hemant has a link to it from his media page.

It was an interesting little snippet.

8TX- Not sure I will be able to protect you from people wanting to barrage you but I think you have that down
Eliza- Yes - the book deal/friendly atheist contest is still in play but like all deals where there are negotiations - this one is taking some unanticipated twists and turns. Shoudl have something for you by end of next week.
Per focus on Vineyard - yes that is what the reporter chose to focus on becuase I think it added some otherwise missing tension in the story - I would have skipped it myself becuase it was not representative of the larger project but o well
Per
I think this would make a great blog post - Maybe Lisa could collect some questions and pose them to Hemant and I and we could interact with them and have you guys comment and interact as well.

9I’d love to see that if Hemant is available and willing to participate (given that it seems he’s officially ‘finished’ with this project).
It would be interesting to hear whether you and Hemant think you might work together again on any future projects or whether you’re planning to go your separate ways now.
