Even though Hemant is retired, churches continue to request that Off The Map send an “official” Church Rater to survey their church.
A small church near Chicago (that meets on Saturday morning) has asked us to send someone anonymously to do a church survey.
If you are interested in more info on this one - let me know
Also - If you would like to participate in an upcoming Church Rater Weekend where some of us attend a church of our choice and survey it on the same weekend and then post our findings - let me know

3Hello,
Perhaps this link has been mentioned before, but The Ship of Fools has been doing these kinds of reports too, for a while. Though, they’re based in the UK, so most of the churches are non-North American.

4Church rater weekend sounds interesting… is it ok to go w/ a friend or does that compromise it somehow?

5Going with a friend is fine - have them do their own review as well - Double the fun!
We’ve heard about ship of fools - the more the merrier

6I like how Jim Martin puts it in his blog. The post is entitled If Jesus Had a Church.
He ends by saying:

7Can I do my own church?
I’ve been listening and observing with new eyes and ears since this Atheist/Xian experiment started and would really enjoy it…
So often over the last 3 months I’ve found myself asking, “What would Hemant think?”.

8WWHT? A new movement
KSG is onto something
Rate your own church as if Hemant was in your head.
Very nice

9We could all do WWHT one weekend and then have Hemant grade us on how close we got to his viewpoint :-)

10WWHT - I like it! :)
I think it’s a great idea for church members to consider what Hemant might say about their own church.
In my case, Hemant already rated the church I went to the longest (The Moody Church; 12 years). So I don’t even need to speculate on what he thinks - I know. He gave it one of the worst ratings out of the ten. (This may have been partly because it was a prayer meeting during missions conference - so it gave a lot of exposure to two aspects of Christianity Hemant doesn’t like: 1) the things Christians choose to pray about and 2) Christian efforts to try to convert others)
By the way, I posted this announcement on the IIDB (Internet Infidels Discussion Board)

11I’d do a WWHT.

12Julie Marie, which do you think would come out more positive about your church: WWHT or WWJMT? ;)

13Hey, great question Ir, I’ve thought about doing a WWHT followed by a WWKSGT the following week, just to see if it would be considerable more different.
