On God Doesn’t Believe in Atheists jacob wrote:
the problem with any of that discussion is that God does not come to his people in solid proof. God comes to us most often in spiritual truth. I know God exists because of what He and His Spirit have done in my heart. I cannot construct a perfect proof to prove or disprove God and that is a good deal of His wonder. Debating whether or not we can prove or disprove God’s existence is futile. We must talk about what we know to be true from personal experience, a great deal of it spiritual.

1I think Jacob raises some very good thoughts. I would reword what he has written:
“We must talk about what we
to be true from personal experience, a great deal of it spiritual.” I would change the word know to believe to be true.
My sense is that most - if not all of us have gone through changes in what we believe to be true and we can now describe what we believe to be true - but most of our histories would suggest that we may well believe something different in the future.
I particularly appreciate Jacobs focus on personal experience.
It may well be that our greatest impediment to further learning and growth comes from being absolutely sure that what we “know” at this moment is the final and absolute truth.

2God supposedly comes to every believer in their heart and supports contradictory religious notions in the process.
So then does God support all religions (despite the contradictions), or is he schizoid,… or is perhaps personal spiritual experience just a common aspect of the human condition that tells us nothing about the existence of God or truth of beliefs?
