Here’s some information about Cully’s art show from jmw, who met Cully here on the eBay atheist blog.
Back in February I enjoyed reading this and other related blogs and having the opportunity to meet some thoughtful and amazing people if only through the web. Though time restricted any continuing involvement I would have like to have had, I will occasionally have the chance to read the on-going discussion and I continue to enjoy this exchange, thank you to all that have and continue to participate.
Having open dialogue with others expressing a variety of backgrounds and beliefs was a privileged experience for me. Out of that experience I got to meet Cully Long of NYC. Upon discovering his line of work (set design in the theatre district) I stumbled upon his personal artwork. I work for a non-profit, faith based gallery in Houston, Texas and felt that the pieces Cully had sampled on his flicker site would be a great fit for our gallery and invited him to have a show. This Friday, December 1st, Cully’s show “A Lines- Scenes from the Subway” opens at Xnihilo Gallery (with over 115 original pieces). Though the subject matter isn’t directly related to “the e-bay atheist,” I’m thrilled that the open dialogue continues in various expressions around the country.
If you’re in the Houston area or “close enough,” I hope you can make it Friday evening for the opening reception to meet with Cully and others for what’s promising to be a great evening.

2I have been posting daily updates on how the show is going over at my blog, and someday I’ll get around to posting the piece I am writing about “faith-based” art here. Thanks for the support! Hope to see some of you.

3Cully: I visited your site and just realized you are from the south (the Duke’s Mayonnaise thing!). Where? I’m guessing Atlanta, since you were surprised at the lack of rail in Houston. Atlanta is the only place I know of in the south that has serious public transportation. Well, maybe Chapel Hill, or some other college town.

4Savannah actually. Savannah doesn’t have a rail system but they have buses. I just always imagined that once you get above a certain population trains become obvious… Boston, Chicago, DC, most of Cali… LA was always the exemption, but maybe texas cities as well? I just saw my first city bus here though, so maybe it’s just buses.

5Well, now I have to adjust the accent I have been giving you as I read your words!

6Public transportation here in Houston is terrible (but you already heard my rant this evening Cully) and shows little promise of improving…
The show is looking great!

7If you click on “cully” you can read up on the exhibit’s opening night. It looks like it was a great success.
With a little detective, you can find a nice picture of Cully. Now we don’t have to guess!

8That would be “detective work”. (I think Hercule Poirot might be a little detective)
