If it makes you feel any better most the Mormon missionaries don’t enjoy knocking on your door any more than you like them doing it. However they have to get through it so when they get back they’ll be a good RM (as most good Mormon girls want only an RM to marry in the temple).
I always figured it must be some kind of extraordinary peer pressure to make somebody do something so clearly annoying and so likely ineffective. I guess perpetuation of the species is a pretty powerful drive!
