A spokesman for the Mitt Romney campaign is thus far refusing to say whether Romney sees any positive role in America for atheists and other non-believers, after Election Central inquired about the topic yesterday
It’s a sign that Romney may be seeking to submerge evangelical distaste for Mormonism by uniting the two groups together in a wider culture war. Romney’s speech has come under some criticism, even from conservatives like David Brooks and Ramesh Ponnuru, for positively mentioning many prominent religions but failing to include anything positive about atheists and agnostics.
As other secularists have said, WE SUPPORT Romney in his bid to be treated with no favor or disfavor because of his faith. If he were a member of my political party, I’d go to the wall for the man, not because of his Mormonism, but because I believe in America as a nation where nobody should face discrimination because of their faith.
Wendy Kaminer said it just right.

Here is a trailer for Ben Stein’s Expelled, which is being released in February. It looks like it may actually be a worthy opponent to the Nova Special we just talked about.
If it’s as scientific as it they’re are making it out to be, it should be very good.

We atheists have been losing the War on Christmas for too long. How long we have struggled while Christian, after Christian after Christian has gotten their fantasies made into big-budget family epics, only to have our triumphant indoctrination tool defeated by the unholy alliance of the Catholic League and just about every professional movie reviewer in the nation
Well no more.
Today we atheists take a stand. Today we stand up to the culture wars and today we fight back.
Brothers and sisters, it is way past time we flexed our economic muscle in the marketplace of entertainment. You know the horrible unholy, ungodly horror I’m speaking of. Well today, we atheists are standing fast, and calling for an international boycott of the abominal horror that is “The Christmas Shoes.”
The machine that is “sacred media” will TREMBLE at the awesome economic power of millions of atheists SIMULTANEOUSLY not buying “The Christmas Shoes” items. That’s right, this is a blanket boycott. I’m not listening to the song, nor buying the album. I’m saying “NO” to the stage play AND the CBS dramatization starring Rob Lowe. I’m boycotting the book, the storybook with CD, the Christmas Ornament and the Cookbook. I’m not even going to read the Chain letter EMAIL that started it, or pray “The Christmas Shoes Prayer.”
Yes. There, I did it. You didn’t think we atheists would have the guts… all I can say is TAKE THAT BILL DONOHUE!
